Mr. Luck Chan

Mr. Lucky Chan is a dedicated judo instructor originally from Burma with a passion for helping students build confidence, discipline, and real technical skill through the art of judo. A 2nd Degree Brown Belt under Kevin Butler at Tri Valley Judo and an active USA Judo member, Lucky has competed throughout California in cities including Los Angeles, Fresno, Monterey, San Jose, and Modesto.

Coach Lucky focuses on developing strong fundamentals, proper timing, and technical precision rather than relying on strength alone. He believes judo is for everyone and teaches students how to safely fall, protect themselves, and execute effective throws with confidence. His instruction is especially valuable for jiu jitsu students looking to improve takedowns, balance, and stand-up awareness, with key emphasis on techniques such as O Soto Gari and Uchi Mata.

Beyond the mats, Lucky is passionate about giving back to his community through volunteering at churches and local food banks. He believes martial arts should bring people together and help build both body and mind.

His advice to nervous beginners is simple:

“Just show up. Showing up is the hardest part. After your first class, it’s not as scary as you think.”
